Come together and Walk for South Africa at MTN Walk the Talk with 702

It was just a year ago when the streets of Jozi were covered in yellow when MTN partnered with Radio 702 for what is now referred to as the MTN Walk the Talk with 702. Well, they are back again this Sunday, 22 July 2018, to bring all South Africans closer together as we walk for the nation.

The only thing bigger than the crowd, will be the vibe as over 50 000 individuals walk with their friends, colleagues, family, prams and dogs in bright outfits and costumes to showcase how they are walking for SA. The 15km route walkers will set off at 07:00am and pace their way around the City, across the iconic Nelson Mandela Bridge, while the 8km and 5km routes will take walkers through the leafy suburbs in and around the Marks Park sports club in Emmarentia.

“As the world celebrates Nelson Mandela’s Centenary birthday, this is a great time to be Walking for SA and as MTN we couldn’t be prouder to be part of an initiative that brings the nation closer together,” says Jacqui O’Sullivan – Executive Corporate Affairs: MTN SA.

On race day, MTN plans to set up a photo booth for walkers to snap, hashtag and upload pictures with their race numbers on either Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using #MTN702walk. The most exciting and interesting posts by MTN subscribers will stand a chance to win an MTN Connected Home – thanks to the Bozza network.

The event is about fun, fitness and walking for a cause and with this in mind – MTN Foundation and Radio 702 have dedicated a portion of entry fees to Hotel Hope Ministries, a children’s home based in the Melville and fully registered non-profit organization, which form part of the 8km and 5km Walk the Talk routes.

Hotel Hope Ministries was established in 2008 with the aim of creating and supporting orphaned and abandoned babies, providing young mothers facing unplanned pregnancies with counselling, guidance and practical support, and assisting parents to help themselves by providing jobs and skill development opportunities through their fundraising and trading projects.

At the Walk, the public is urged not to miss the MTN Waterpoint ready to re-energise participants with a live DJ and Bozza Cheerleaders. MTN also has your bambinos covered on the day – children will get to do some digital gaming through MTN Play in the kiddies’ area.

MTN has invested substantially to improve its network coverage and quality in the past few years, and this has resulted in MTN being recognised as the Best in Test network. With considerably fast internet download speeds, MTN is well positioned to give multitudes of walkers a distinctive customer experience. With this improved network, MTN will enable participants to seamlessly share their moments on the day of the event.
