SA film “Uncovered” screens at Chelsea Film Festival opening night

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is proud to see the feature film Uncovered screening at the opening night of the 7th edition of the Chelsea Film Festival. The festival began last night and will end on the 20th of October 2019, with 20 feature films from 8 countries selected for this year’s official line-up.

Nodada’s film is set in Richards Bay and loosely based on true events and follows Aluta in her running to be the first female president of South Africa. Her campaign is side-tracked when her sister, an investigative journalist, is murdered, in what police determined to be a suicide. As Aluta shifts attention away from her presidential dream to pursue justice, she begins to uncover harsh secrets about her past and deceased parents.

The Chelsea Film Festival is an international festival that seeks to give attention to the work of emerging filmmakers, producers and actors. The festival offers a range of films from documentaries to feature – lengths, that focus on the theme of ‘’Global Issues,’’ with the aim of showcasing the work of risk-taking storytellers.
