The new board, together with the executive at SA Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) has hit the ground running with a Roadshow aimed at educating SAMRO members and stakeholders about the critical issue of Public Domain (DP) works.
The Roadshow will unpack SAMRO’s current distribution rules in relation to arrangements of DP works and will engage members on options to amend these rules. Benchmarking and comparisons with other territories around the world will also be discussed.
The workshops will take place in all nine (9) provinces between March and April 2019 and will be facilitated by senior SAMRO staff members accompanied by a board member.
Acting chairperson Relebogile Mabotja commented: ‘We are taking SAMRO to the people with this outreach. We have identified the importance of education to arm the public with all the tools they need to benefit from the services we offer. We look forward to the lively interactions with the public.’
