Sunfoil to provide major boost to WP Cricket development

Western Province cricket at grassroots level has received a shot in the arm as Sunfoil has come on board, in a three-year deal, as sponsors of Development Cricket in the region.

The Sunfoil U13 Girls Festival has already taken place, with roars of approval of all who attended, and the upcoming AMA20 Club finals weekend will now be re-named the Sunfoil AMA20 Club finals. WPCA hubs and township tournaments will also enjoy the support of the Sunfoil brand as the company aim to build on their long-standing relationship with cricket development.

“Willowton Group’s Sunfoil brand is humbled to extend its legacy in grass roots cricket development by partnering with the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA),” said Shoaib Moosa, chief commercial officer of the Willowton Group.

“We hope to build upon our existing structures and partnerships and to enable our youth to have a chance to develop their skills, both in sport and socially,” Moosa added.

“The Sunfoil brand has been synonymous with development cricket for a number of years now so to have them come on board with Western Province Cricket is truly an honour and we thank them for backing our vision to make the game accessible to all,” said WPCA cricket services manager Clinton du Preez. “Thank you for helping us ensure that our pipeline of young girls and boys cricketers continue to blossom and represent our age group teams and ultimately our senior teams and Proteas,” Du Preez commented.

“It is a tough sponsorship market out there, so rights holders need to provide proper return on investment to sponsors,” said David Brooke, WPCA brand and sponsorship manager. “It is a crucial element which I believe we offer partners who get involved with Western Province Cricket and in our professional team, the World Sports Betting Cape Cobras. I am delighted for the Western Province cricket brand to partner with a strong household name such as Sunfoil,” Brooke added.

“As an organization, it is extremely pleasing that powerful brands such as Sunfoil entrusts us with their brand and believe in what we are doing at grassroots level and in our communities. We look forward to many more fruitful years operating together to grow cricket in Western Province,” said the WPCA CEO, Nabeal Dien.
