Renowned US actress, Taraji P. Henson is in South Africa and her first stop was at 947 studios with the 947 Breakfast club. Taraji is on the media tour to promote the 5th season of the TV series, Empire.
Speaking with the 947 Breakfast Club Taraji says she does not like to jinx the projects she works on before they are released.
“I do not like to count my chickens before they hatch. I know what’s in the script, the talent that is brought to the project but once we release the movie you never know, which is why I never say how good the movie is before its released.”
Taraji is involved in a lot of projects meant to motivate and uplift women. She says she hopes that when she speaks people do listen.
Speaking about her book ‘Around the way girl’ she told the 947 Breakfast Club that she knew the tittle of it before she started writing the book.
“I knew the tittle of the book before writing the story, I wanted it to appeal to around the way girl, the young lady who feel like she has a lot of obstacles to overcome and it worked. The book is about my story, where I come from,” she said.
Around the Way Girl is Taraji’s memoir in which she reflects on the world-class instruction she received at Howard University and the pitfalls that come with being a black actress.
To wrap up the interview, the bubbly actress took part in the show’s Classic or not, this is a music game where listeners vote on whether a song is a classic or not. “I am happy to be on the dodgy classic or not week,” Taraji said.
