THE GOLDEN STARS AWARDS TAKES REGIONAL ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY TO TOP LEVEL

The Golden Stars Awards (GStars) is intending to move Bushbuckridge communities and Mpumalanga province’s music and entertainment industry in general to new heights. According to the GStars Executive Chairman, Sipho Dzimba, this year’s awards-giving ceremony will set trends and inspire confidence for many to take the entertainment industry in the region seriously.

The GStars intends to recognize, celebrate and honour top performing entertainers in wide range of sectors that include films (or tv), artistry, media and entertainment. This year’s awards-giving ceremony will see SABC 2’s Giyani: Our Land of Blood drama actress Nyeleti Khoza, famously known as Tiyiselani in attendance.

“We are pulling all the stops to have various big name stars at the ceremony, because we’re always inspired to create history and set the trends. There’s nothing that can stop us from celebrating the golden talent from Bushbuckridge communities and other parts of the province. Remember, at the first edition of the GStars in 2017 we had Thabo Mkhabele, popularly known as Leshole Mabitsela on Skeem Saam soapie. It’s our wish to partner with this great personalities in future in order to make sure that they impart their skills and knowledge to a hordes of our young people here in Bushbuckridge communities,” said Dzimba. GStars, launched in 2017, was intended to recognize and celebrate excellent work from top performing stars who hail from Bushbuckridge communities.

Part of the brand’s aims was to also offer a viable platform to the stars for national and international recognition. “We are also envisioning the Golden Stars Awards as a suitable platform that will unite and offer a great moment to properly network between the local entertainers and big name stars together with their followers from all over the region. This is a generational mission that has also been intended to assist young artists to learn about the industry as well as the aspects to build and grow their brands while also climbing the ladder up in their respective industries,” added Dzimba.

The awards have always had more categories in the music industry because part of it has been part of the organisers to grow music in the region and across the province at large. Among other music categories that were opened for contest includes Best Artist, Best Album, Most Popular Song and Best Hit-Single. “We have opened up and embraced other talents outside the traditional entertainment through a number of categories that includes Best Innovative Entrepreneur, Best Local Brand, Best Journalist and Best News Article or Story. We also encourage the performing stars to produce quality work. The Golden Stars Awards is the platform where we not only recognize, celebrate and honour but also identify and admire the entertainers hard work and dedication,” added Dzimba.

Dzimba encouraged various business people, municipality and the government departments to rally and support behind the initiative. He said the Golden Stars Awards were underfunded. “We are currently an underfunded brand with no sponsor but such is not stopping us from pushing this great initiative to professionalize the entertainment industry in Bushbuckridge communities and positively transform our society,” he said. The GStars have this year also introduced new categories, such as Best Amapiano song, Best Fashion Designer and Best Public Icon. Song and Best. “With the Best Amapiano we are acknowledging the great work that our local Amapiano beat markers are doing. Amapiano music genre has become part of the top dance music in the region. So the category will celebrate and recognize the greatest effort from one local Amapiano star.”
